JAPAN MICHAEL LEVIN
17th - 24th March, 2018
Fully Booked
In 2018, Michael Levin & Jonathan Chritchley will personally guide an exclusive photography tour of the ancient island of Honshu in Japan. This week-long experience, for a small group of only 8, will provide many incredible opportunities to see and photograph both the architectural and natural beauty of this special place. There will be slideshows and presentaions of processing images by both photographers, plus one to one time and reviews. You won’t want to miss this rare opportunity to see Japan as these two fine art photography legends see it.
It is Michael who first introduced Jonathan to this beautiful country: “I've had the good fortune to have travelled through Japan numerous times and it really is a special place. Although I never list the actual locations of the photographs on my website, 80% of them are from Japan. It is a diverse and curious place with numerous gems to shoot, as long as you know where to look. As a small group of 8 I can't think of a better way to explore Honshu talking about (and more importantly) making photographs. We will visit several of the locations where I have made some of my most recognisable images and I will talk about how the compositions and ideas came to be.
There will be plenty of opportunities for you to make your own unique images and both Jonathan and I will be nearby for assistance when needed. Starting and finishing in Osaka, we will visit some of the most spectacular seascapes and landscapes anywhere and there will be ample time to take the 'perfect' photo. The trip will be loosely based on a tour, however we won't be on an hour-by-hour schedule, as I really want the group to have the opportunity to stay in a given place for as long as needed. We’ve listed some of the cities we will visit but we will primarily be on the road visiting places that are not on the tourist maps. We will basically be doing a big loop and along the way I'm sure we will encounter the unexpected where we will have the chance to stop, shoot and take it all in. We’ve chosen to travel during the 'Sakura' season or cherry blossom time as it is visually unmatched with any country I've ever visited. The weather is typically mild and there always seem to be a slightly overcast sky making it ideal for long exposure photography.” MICHAEL LEVIN
